Coastal Georgia Hazards Portal Workshop
The Georgia Coastal Hazards Portal (GCHP) will be a coast-wide workshop for up to 25 community planners, resource managers, research scientists, outreach specialists and educators. The one day workshop, hosted by the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service and the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve will be held at the Sapelo Island Visitor Center in Meridian, GA. The workshop will provide a mechanism to foster the exchange of information and ideas on current coastal hazard research, encourage networking within the coastal hazards community, to showcase the interactive GCHP website as a resource and tool for communicating the facts and risks of coastal hazards. Workshop format will include informative presentations from coastal research scientists that are currently conducting research pertaining to coastal hazards in addition to a two hour training session on accessibility and application of the new interactive GCHP. The workshop will provide a vehicle for broader project dissemination as participants take the knowledge gained during the workshop experience back to their institutions and agency. Participants will receive a flash drive uploaded with workshop presentations along with reference material on accessing and utilizing the GCHP.
