Build your own rain barrel workshop
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Coastal Management Program and the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve will be hosting another Build-Your-Own-Rain Barrel workshop.

Rain barrels are a great way to not only provide the best water for your plants, but also to save money and water. Water stored in your rain barrels is water that won't rush off into our streams and estuaries. Instead, as you use the stored rain water around the home and garden, it will absorb slowly into the ground replenishing groundwater supplies. By decreasing the volume of storm runoff, rain barrels also help moderate stream erosion and the resulting pollution that is flowing into our salt marshes.
The workshop will be from 10 AM to 12 PM. The registration fee includes a rain barrel and downspout diverter kit.
