Coastal Training Program Sapelo Island National Estaurine Research Reserve

"Improving decision-making related to coastal resources management at the local and regional levels"

Open the Garden Gate

The Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve and Coastal Wildscapes created two informative days with experts on biodiversity, coastal habitats, native plants and wildlife and their place in your garden and landscape.  Our keynote speaker was Dr. Doug Tallamy, a nationally acclaimed author on the subject.  Participants learned what individual gardeners, developers, landscape architects, natural resource managers, planners and local officials can do to protect and conserve our vital and irreplaceable biological diversity.

"As gardeners and stewards of our land, we have never been so empowered to help save biodiverstiy from extinction, and the need to do so has never been so great.  All we need to do is plant native plants!" -- Doug Tallamy, Bringing Nature Home
