Exotic Pest Plant Identification and Control Workshop

The Sapelo Island NERR Coastal Training Program, Georgia Exotic Pest Plant Council and the Nature Conservancy sponsored a two day workshop on the identification and control of exotic pest plants in coastal Georgia.  Exotic pest plants have become a major issue in land management throughout coastal Georgia.  Exotic pest plant specialists are concerned about the ability of exotic pest plants to alter the natural landscape and threaten the diversity of native species and the health of natural ecosystems.  The goal of the workshop was to instruct participants on the impact, identification and control of exotic pest plants.  The workshop combined both classroom lectures and demonstrations regarding the most aggresive pest plants in the Georgia coastal landscape.
