Coastal Training Program Sapelo Island National Estaurine Research Reserve

"Improving decision-making related to coastal resources management at the local and regional levels"

Introduction to ArcGIS I

The Sapelo Island NERR Coastal Training Program, together with its partnering agencies, are striving to support the efforts of coastal managers in watershed, conservation, hazards and ocean planning through training, tool development, demonstration projects, and dissemination of technical information.  This two-day course is part of an effort to fill the technical needs and capacities of the coastal management community in Georgia.  The Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) certified training course covered the basics of ArcGIS software.  The course focused on creating, editing, and working with georeferenced spatial data; manipulating tabular data; querying a GIS database; and producing maps, reports, and graphs.

This training workshop was made possible through the close collaboration with McIntosh County and a grant from the McIntosh County Tax Assessors office, GIS department.
